The app used multiple date labels such as Purchase Date, Expiration Date, Created On, and Updated On. Many overlapped in meaning or used inconsistent wording, making it harder for users to quickly understand what each date referred to—especially when multiple date types appeared on the same screen.
I audited the entire application to collect every instance of date terminology. Then, I researched best practices and consolidated overlapping terms. The goal was to use consistent syntax across all date types while keeping the wording clear and simple.
I created a standardized terminology document in the design system library. This serves as a reference whenever new features or tables are added, ensuring all designers stay aligned and preventing new inconsistencies.
